Happy to report we've got a lot of new people in the Fleas this year. New membership means we're going back to the basics.
What you should understand about the Jumpin Fleas is that we've been around for a long time, and we have many members who have been coming for 5, 6, 7 years.
How about 8 years? Yup.
9? Who's got 9 years in the Fleas?
Back off. Because here comes 10 years.
10 years. That's a lot. That's a long time to be playing the ukulele, let alone in a group, used to the music, used to the vibe.
All the 10 year people sit down.
The people you still see standing up (Rob, John, Ed, Judy, Susanna and Rapid Ray, sometimes called Original Ray) they've got 11 - eleven - years in the Fleas.
So what does that mean? It means they know the basics, they've done the workshops, they've seen Li'l Rev a handful of times. They've been a part of the shaping and the making of the group. They've played the gigs. They've done the legwork. And now they're going to help you - the new members of the group - get a handle on what it is we do and how we do it.
The time is now. We're going to be doing easier songs. It's going to be fun. You will be in good company. Let's get after it!
